TATTOO WEATHER?

I remember being the in the Phoenix Airport a week ago today and noticing a high frequency of large tattoos on my fellow passengers. My first thought was that since it’s so hot in the Phoenix area, especially compared to my “homeland” states, more people might be prone to commit to more ink if they know they’ll be showing it off year-round. So, weather would be the cause of more Phoenixers getting large tats than their peers from colder regions. Then, I considered that if I were in Michigan, for example, on an equally hot day, maybe I would see just as much tattoo action, since people are able to show off their bodyart better in warmer weather, as tank tops and shorts dominate the wardrobe. Instead of driving people towards tattoos, the weather simply allows passerby to see much more of a person’s skin.

So, which is it? Do warmer weather regions have a higher prevalence of tattoos, or do warmer-weather days have higher incidence of tattoo sightings? Riddle me that.
