Headed here for dinner tonight with my favorite betrothed future head surgeon and journalist. And my manpartner for life.

Boston edition: You wouldn’t think to find authentic Southern BBQ in Boston, but it does in fact exist - at Redbones BBQ in Davis Square. Everything I tried at this place was delicious, from the complimentary cornbread served with certified Southern butter pats, to our deep fried pickle chips and jalapeños (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED), and my perfectly cooked catfish sandwich.

Don’t miss the local craft brewed root beer which I can’t seem to recall the name of, and yet was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. Last but not least, if you’re a fan of sweet tea, Redbones brews a mean one. I had an Arnold Palmer (half lemonade/half iced tea, which was news to my cousin-in-law). I then went on to tell him that a spiked Arnold Palmer was called a John Daly. He thought this was just about the funniest thing ever and proceeded to school our waitress, who was definitely not as amused.

I have never used a rating system on this blog, but FIVE STARS. Portland, take note: this is how Southern food should be. No frills, just really delicious, honest to goodness food.
