This coming Friday I’ll be escaping to Michigan for a lovely sister’s-bridal-shower weekend. It will be nearly exactly 1-year since my last sister’s-bridal-shower weekend trip. WE LOVE GETTING MARRIED - especially all at the SAME TIME. It’s exhausting, really, but we just can’t seem to fight off these charming husband-suitors. Hee hee.
It will be the fourth consecutive month of Midwest rendezvous, which is intense given our distance from the mother-region. After indulging in “The Informant!” last night, set mostly in Illinois, I was even more excited to be returning to the wholesome family-fun-filled areas I called HOME for most of my brief quarter-century on this Earth thus far.
June was all about Chicago, with both Northtown graduation and an ADA conference bringing me back. A few Michigan days were sprinkled in there, for a wedding and other family adventures, which made it twice as nice of a trip. July included a Farm-Fest Independence Day in Springfield, IL, and then August brought us back to Southeast Mich. as we wound down our summer travels.
What else but two more WEDDINGS to bring us back to Chicago and Michigan in October and November, respectively. With the Christmas season immediately following, you’d think we had a direct Midwest teleporter in our living room … but, alas, just BigTimeBills to cover all this jet-setting. DInero well spent, I must say.
It’s not exotic or glitzy or even that readerworthy, but there’s NO place like home, even when that term starts to involve a multi-state region.
