While reading silly headlines at CNN.com, I saw the following announcement:
Hudson pilot ‘Sully’ set to fly again
Is it a horrible sign of my character that I initially pondered why anyone would create a Jennifer Hudson television show called ‘Sully’ that they were pimping on CNN, in order to score forgettable Nielsen ratings during back-to-school sweeps, especially in the 18-24 years age bracket? I had to re-read it twice to realize they were referring to the heroic pilot made famous briefly last winter! What is wrong with me! >_<
I’ll blame it on media inundation and the addictive quality of keeping up with celebrity news over quality media outlets that portray the REAL heros of society and celebrate home-town achievements across America. It ain’t my fault.
I could also blame this concern for my poor language-association skills on the fact that we are being PRIMED at school these days to identify the next hypothalamic tumor or internal capsule stroke within these precious, vulnerable jello-mold BRAINS that we are all carrying around. I’m not sure how I haven’t shorted out yet, or YEARS ago for that matter, but I’m sure grateful that these fantastic circuits keep sparking me into living cluelessly without any protection between a 3mm artery and God’s own front porch. It’s really a wonder!
