Excerpt from the lab manual of our nearly finished Human Nervous System and Behavior course.
I wonder if taking this advice would, in fact, improve my performance on tomorrow’s massive final exam. It’s hard not to cave under the pressure of 7 weeks’ worth of wildly detailed information, of which maybe 2.5% will apply to my daily clinical life in a few years. I LIKED LEARNING IT ALL, but I am becoming scared of pouring out that in the form of a dozen mini-essays tomorrow morning.
How am I really coping with this pressure? By spending the evening with Jon at a neighborhood non-profit’s fundraiser party. We went last year as Jon’s birthday present, and this year just because. Great local food, ample brews, and lovely company. Academically irresponsible? Maybe. Will those three hours of pleasure diminish my understanding of neurophysiology and neuroanatomy? WE’LL SEE.
