I was just about to harass my sister during a Facebook chat for a topic to blog about, when she surprised me with this lil’ gem:
9:49pm”Kristen
We ate dinner at cousin gordies now patrick is working
they cooked the squirrel
i didnt eat it though”
WHA??!?! I had seen that my brother-in-law had fiercely downed 7 squirrels over the weekend, but it was beyond my imagination that a civilized DINNER would emerge from that adventure. Keep in mind that my sister is a very sanitation-conscious future-nurse and disallowed the preparation of said wild game in their own home.

Can you imagine that conversation? ”Honey, it’s just meat. Like, cow or pig.” Hahahaha. I couldn’t help but see what a classic Google search would turn up for eating squirrel, and was pleasantly surprised with this article about how squirrel is the new…. quail? Not sure. Simply that Brits are even considering this bizarro meat is fascinating to me. Takes away the whole hill-billy reflex impression I might otherwise get at and replaces it with a more isn’t that creative! reaction.
Too funny. Keep it up, Patrick. You’re a real cowboy. :)
