Elemental Parental

I love days when I get to speak with both parents in separate, cheerful conversations. Today we collectively discussed topics such as boneless legs of lamb, excessively cheap Christmas cards, international travel, gambling, the pros and cons of eating Chinese food on Christmas, and Panasonic car stereos.

Though I have absolutely no idea how they ever decided to thrice procreate and spend a dozen years married, I am so grateful they did and that we can talk nearly everyday about nothing in particular despite 700 miles between me and them.

Let’s just say It sure beats today’s mid-afternoon conversation (i.e. academically evaluated patient history-taking) with an elderly woman that was suddenly interrupted by her need for a diaper change. And believed it was 1992. And claimed Nixon to be at the helm of our administration. Boo.

Even if one day my own parents require conversation pauses for the same natural, odorous reasons, I will still look forward to them. HUGS ALL AROUND.
