I had a super duper fun week rotating through the Department of Dentistry at Children’s Hospital Boston. We saw work done in the operating room and in regular operatories, while getting to know the residents, assistants, attendings and extremely interesting families of their special dental patients. I am starting to get really excited about the possibility of applying for a residency in pediatric dentistry. Especially at a place like Children’s, it’s hard not to feel enamored with their focus on quality improvement, diverse range of patients’ needs, and rigorous schedule that’s guaranteed to train you very well to handle anything. This week started with a HUGE day of success in residency placements for friends across the country. This Week in the Beauty Parlor

  • One of my youngest patients recommended that I trim my nosehairs to minimize the dry boogers she saw up in my nose during our appointment.
  • An octogenarian patient gushed that she has a Botox consult soon, because “who else should I by spending my money on?”

That awkward moment when you realize you’ve told your 45 year old patient that her skin is amazing and you want to know what peels she uses and that she is super fabulous one too many times in the same visit.

You regret gushing but still have more questions and want to learn all of her mystical Brazilian secrets.
