Me: Mother has requested three final chores, so we'll be 10 minutes late to your house
Sister: which 3 chores?
Me: Picking up cigarette tubes, Egg McMuffin, hydrochlorothiazide

27 years ago today, I came into this world. Thanks for having me, Mom! (I’ve probably mentioned that she has never sent an email in her life, so I will have to relay that gratitude over the phone as well). 27 lbs. ago, I was 22 years old and heavier than I hope to be ever again in my life. Photographic evidence from that birthday party, above. I’m certainly a little more wrinkled, and impressively more in debt, but I’ll take that over diabetes-in-training any day. Life is good!

2011: The $100,000 Year

And I don’t mean earning $100,000. I have never said dental school is too expensive, or that I’m frustrated with the investment as whole, but it does feel like a hyperbolic amount of negative dollars.

Sometime in 2013, the principle owed on our Chicago mortgage will be equivalent with my final student loan debt.

And at that point I will begin marketing one of my kidneys to the highest bidder. If guys like Tracy Morgan and George Lopez are buying, I just might be selling.

Oh, diabetes.
