We’ve gone Postal.

Behold the most schizo-stamped card in the world. Yes, that’s a coffee stain in the middle of the Cyrillic addressed letter to my favorite Peace Corps Volunteer. She’s long since moved and now has a Regular Alphabet address, thank goodness.

The stamps are like a crazy quilt of no longer current postage that I had on hand. Why would one keep 37 cent or 41 cent stamps, you ask? I DON’T KNOW.

Are strange stamping habits inheritable?

Exhibit A: a letter from my mother received just days after I had sent out the crazy Ukrainian card.

Check out that raging supply of 41 cent stamps! IT’S LIKE WE’RE RELATED!

It may be 2011 according to most cultures worldwide, but efficient hoarding never goes out of style. May the stamps of 2007 live on!

Best of 2010: Christmas Cards

Last year I wasted spent a strangely large amount of time creating our holiday cards. Just looking through that post exhausts me. Where did that energy come from last year? God knows. And He’s keeping it a secret because it definitely evaded me this year. My generosity of time and cash was distinctly lacking this year:

I must have been feeling very cocky about the quality of our homemade cards when I held a pretend contest and announced the Top 4 Cards of 2009. This year’s aesthetic seemed to have a lot more glitter and 3D embellishments than last year’s collection. I’ll take this as a sign of global optimism. Why the hell not.

Again, I present to you the fairest of them all:

This chipper glitter cutout was sent from Uncle Bill and Aunt Michelle in Farmington, MI. Thanks!

This is the debut holiday card year for Benjamin Dunay, Esquire. He’s a man of heart and style with these charming cards that support pediatric cancer research.

This stylish square card combines the shiny and the three-dimensional. A+. Thanks, Workman Family!

Around the world in 110 days…

Today marked the delivery of TWO large envelope packages, which is always exciting. Even if you’ve completely initiated whatever order that sends the package your way, I think we can agree that receiving them is universally exciting and heartily patronize the post office whenever possible.

The first package, however, has been in transit for OVER THREE MONTHS. Literally. How in the world could the German and/or American postal services be unable to deliver this, and yet actually keep track of this little bundle for so long?!? Bizarrrre. Thank goodness the artificially sugar-free Halloween candy inside is scientifically incapable of aging. Katie, get ready for your housewarming present! ;)

In other postal news, my electronic attempt to get more fit has resulted in the actual responsibility to start getting up early and jumping around my living room. Let’s hope I don’t pull the muscles required to study… oh wait. Learning and fitness are almost mutually exclusive. Atrophy be banished!
