Today begins my last week at the Harvard School of Public Health. I will miss the fascinating classes, very life-friendly schedule, and the awesome new friends such as Dr. Brittany Seymour (above).

I’d been looking forward to earning an MPH for many years. It’s been such a treat, and not just because it brings me closer to the educational background of Sarah Palin.

Have a lovely week.

Is Boston being punished for my Alaskan actions?

This winter has gone rogue.

“The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory beginning at midnight through 9 a.m. Monday morning, with wind chill values between 15 and 25 degrees below zero. This is expected be the coldest weather Boston has seen in over 5 years.”

Here’s my explanatory model for this intense painful coldness:

1) I am thoroughly enjoying the Going Rogue audiobook. Have I therefore opened some Pandora’s box of inhuman temperatures on my fair New England city? Tina Fey described Sarah Palin’s voice is like an Alaskan windsong. She wasn’t kidding.

2) This weekend in Chicago, Jon and I enjoyed an episode of Alaska State Troopers. It was a surprisingly G-rated cop show. Maybe PG. Definitely not trashy, though. I’m impressed that the National Geographic has jumped on the reality television wagon, and done so in a tasteful way.

The teaser for this Saturday’s episode sounds just like home:

“It’s an all-out manhunt in -33 temperatures when troopers scour the streets of Fairbanks in search of a fugitive.”

Minus the fugitive, I hope.

A visual aid for my immediate previous post. It’s funny because it’s not mean. Nor political, nor intellectual.
As Tracy Jordan would say, “WORDPLAY!”

A Baby Name Idea for the next Palin child…

I live in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. When I type out this strange municipal title too quickly, the “Plain” occasionally comes out as “Palin”.

I then envision a 6th Palin child, or 2nd grandchild, named Jamaica.

“Hey y’all! I’m Jamaica Palin. *wink* “

It could work!

After Piper, Willow, Bristol, Track and Trig, I think “Jamaica” could add some much needed color to the family roster. I’m surprised none of them are named “Alaska”. Maybe there’s a two-syllable limit. That’s probably it.
